These monuments are well-known for the hill that has a cave temple with beautiful rock-cut carvings. The deity reigning here is Bali Peetham, and animal sacrifices were prevalent in ancient times. That is why there is a special area inside the temple reserved for sacrificial procedures.

According to legend, as Jainism declined, Chandragupta Maurya and a Jain hermit named Badrabhahu arrived in Sravanabelagola in 298 BC, and it was during this time that their disciples arrived at Chitharal to preach their faith and meditated on the hill.

The nine stone inscriptions are the most prominent feature of the site. These inscriptions, which date back to the ninth century AD, are in Sanskrit, Tamil, Vattezheutthu, and Malayalam. According to an inscription in Tamil, Bhagvati, a Hindu monarch from the 13th century, converted the cave into a shrine. As a result, it stands out as a key feature in Kanyakumari vacation packages.
